MESSAGE FROM MILLVINA'S FAMILY
As
people will probably know, Millvina was constantly receiving mail from
all over the world. As can be appreciated, there was a considerable
amount of mail accumulated when Millvina died. Her family are working
their way through the mountains of papers, cards, letters etc. but it
is a huge task. The family have asked us to announce that if anyone
sent any enclosures to Millvina which they wished to be returned, these
are being dealt with, but please be patient. It may take some
considerable time to work through the many items.
MILLVINA FUND ANNOUNCEMENT
As
many of you will know, Una Reilly of the Belfast Titanic Society,
Charlie Haas of the Titanic International Society in the USA, and David
Hill of the British Titanic Society, created The Millvina Fund to raise
money for Millvina's care home costs.
Millvina's untimely passing, just as the Fund became operational, resulted in a substantial surplus being left in the Fund.
As stated in the set-up documents, the sole purpose for the Fund's resources was payment of Millvina's care home fees. The Fund's administrators contacted all those who had donated money to seek their approval to use the surplus funds in a suitable manner to commemorate Millvina's memory.
We have now received that approval, and the Fund is actively exploring options as to what form this commemoration should take. Discussions are currently taking place and we shall make a public announcement as soon as a decision is reached.
